These curriculum guides serve as a reference to courses available for selection by students, grades 7 through 12, in the Iroquois Junior/Senior High School. These guides explain the programs of study as well as the Iroquois graduation requirements. Students and parents are encouraged to review the curriculum guides when scheduling to gain maximum benefit from the educational experience we provide at Iroquois Jr./Sr. High School.
COMMENCEMENT AND DIPLOMA Requirements
Students must meet every Graduation Requirement in order to participate in the Commencement exercises, as well as successful completion of Keystone testing and/or a local assessment and/or remediation are required in order to receive a diploma.

Dual enrollment, referred to as “concurrent enrollment” in the Pennsylvania School Code, is an initiative to allow a broader range of students to experience post-secondary coursework and its increased academic rigor, while still in the supportive environment of their local high school. The intent is to increase the number of students that go on to post-secondary education and to decrease the need for remedial coursework at post-secondary institutions. All post-secondary courses carry a weighted grade.
Dual enrollment is a locally administered program that allows a secondary student to concurrently enroll in post-secondary courses (college) and to receive both secondary and post-secondary credit for that coursework. The local programs are run through partnerships between school entities and eligible post-secondary institutions. Students can take collegiate level courses at local participating colleges. Colleges in our area that participate are Penn State Behrend, Gannon University, Edinboro University, and Mercyhurst University.
Dual Enrollment Criteria & Procedure
- The student is a high school junior or senior.
- Complete a Dual Enrollment application through guidance prior to scheduling dual enrollment classes.
- The student is making satisfactory progress toward fulfilling graduation requirements as determined by the school district, including progress on the Culminating Graduation Project (CGP).
- The student has scored at least proficient on the PSSA assessment and/or 4Sight testing.
- The student demonstrates readiness for college-level coursework in the intended subject area of study, as determined by the college. The college will determine readiness based on high school GPA, SAT scores, and/or completed specific college level courses.
- Case by case review by home school principal/counselor using grades, curriculum, and completed PSSA scores and/or 4Sight scores along with recommendation of core curriculum course teacher.
- Maintenance of a secondary school grade point average of 3.0 or above in the applicable area of study. Maintenance of 3.0 GPA in each dual enrollment course from prior semesters.
- No disciplinary referrals year prior to application.
- If IHS is offering an AP Course of similar name or curriculum, dual enrollment will be denied.

- English, Reading, Language Arts
- Social Sciences
- Foreign Language
- Civics, Government, Economics
