Welcome Back Braves –
I am sure that you all have had a tremendous summer and are ready to start a new school year. There are new changes with the schedule and staff. Let me start by welcoming all of the new Braves to our school and to bid a fond farewell to those who will not be returning for the 2019-20 school year.
The school year will begin with many familiar faces returning. However, Mrs. Bielanin, Mrs. Hilinski, Mr. Toy, Mrs. Foriska, Ms. Born, Mr. Goodwill, Ms. Szoszorek, and Mrs. Spencer will not be with us any longer. The English department will see the addition of Mrs. Chrapowicz in the middle school and Mrs. Dell in 10th grade. Mrs. Smith is returning to replace Mrs. Bielanin who has retired. Mr. Zimmerman is moving to the high school to replace the retired Mrs. Hilinski. Also, moving from I.E.S. is Mr. Peterman who will be teaching 8th grade science. The office staff and voice of announcements, Mrs. Spencer, has retired, but we are confident that Mrs. LaRocca will be a welcomed addition to the office staff.
The schedule has been updated with the major changes occurring in English. Besides two new teachers, the middle school will move to block ELA schedules for every student replacing English and Reading classes. Also, ELA remediation will now be included to help with the PSSAs. At the high school level, we are bringing back creative writing as an English elective. We are also running numerous Advanced Placement classes, but are happy to announce two new classes that will provide dual enrollment credits right here in the building. CHS Stats and Python will be held in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh. Lastly, back by popular demand, are SAT Prep classes in Math and English.
There are many other exciting changes in store for the 2019-20 school year, but you will all have to wait and see for yourselves. Remember to join our Twitter feed to receive current updates weekly at Brave@IroquoisHS. To the Graduating class of 2019 – good luck in the future.
Many are strong, but few are Braves!

Dear Iroquois Parents, Students, and Community,
I can’t believe another summer has come and gone! As always, our staff has been hard at work preparing for the new school year. We are excited for the students to return with energy and enthusiasm to excel both in and out of the classroom.
As I enter my fourth year at Iroquois, I reflect on all of the accomplishments of our students, the addition of several rigorous classes to our curriculum, and the many accolades earned by our clubs, performing arts, and sports teams. We have so much to be proud of in this community! It is a privilege to share in all of these successes! Let’s continue to be a district where parents, students, and teachers care for each other, work to build positive relationships, and create a supportive atmosphere for learning.
I believe in an open line of communication with families throughout the school year to build a strong partnership for your child’s success. Please do not hesitate to call or email with questions or concerns.
I look forward to seeing the familiar faces of the students returning and getting to know our new students joining us in the 2019-2020 school year.
Once again, welcome back Braves! Let’s make it a great year at Iroquois!
